Magnus 2G Mitsubishi DSM Racecar Twin Brothers

Brothers

The two brothers at the shop at night

Built both in 2002 these twin 2nd generation DSM beasts were ahead of their time.  One was AWD the other FWD only. Featuring chromemoly tubular subframes billet wheel hubs, one piece front ends, all fiberglass components of our own molds, and the infamous 45 degree Magnus header that puts the exhaust ahead of the front wheel, the shortest and simplest route for all gasses inlet and exhaust.  The First to run Methanol fuels.  The green car was running over 70 psi of boost pressure on its first outing, with our own specially calibrated 100 psi map sensor.  Remember this is in 2003 when people didn’t believe over 28psi was possible.  Even when we told them, nobody would believe us.  So we found it more beneficial to just keep the technology in these cars secret for the last 10 years and trickle it out slowly.  First 4G64 swap was done in the blue car, First Long rod motor, were all done in the blue car, 2.4L 156mm, 2.0 162mm , 2.2 162mm, 2.0 156mm which is the motor it rides with today was built 6 years ago and installed 3 years ago before it was put to sleep.   Most people don’t know that we designed and tested all of those combinations, before some of our vendors thought it would be funny to take our parts to china and have them ripped off for a quarter of the price.  Want our opinion on all these overhyped ‘longrod motors’?  I’ll save that rant or another day

Over the years they have gone through many minor changes and improvements, but have been in hibernation for the last 2.5 years.   For the 20th annual DSM shootout they are being tuned up and brought back to life to attend this once in a lifetime event.
